Her work has been featured on media outlets such as Al-Jazeera and the Washington Post. Her first self-published book entitled “Seven” explores trauma and triumph through the lens of Black Muslim womanhood. Bashir studies Psychology in hopes to become a Psychologist specializing in perinatal mental health.

Her professional background is in communications, organizational development, and community organizing. Alia has been serving Muslim and other marginalized communities at the local, state, and national level for the past 17 years and is also a co-founder of Action for Palestine (AFP). She is a proud Roddenberry Fellow Alumna and a Dallas Public Voices Fellow with the OpEd Project. She is a published writer and public speaker and her work has been featured on most major media outlets globally. She is a graduate of UT Arlington with a degree in Interdisciplinary Studies with her three focuses of study being in Communications, Sociology and Religion/Culture.

EMAIL: ABIDA@FACETOGETHER.ORGAbida Minhas is a licensed professional counselor and supervisor. She received her BA in Psychology at the University of Houston and has a Masters in Clinical Counseling Psychology. Earlier in her career, Abida worked as an intern at LifeNet, a leading community mental health clinic, where she gained extensive training in working with severely mentally ill patients who often had dual diagnoses. After a through clinical setting, Abida then worked in a private practice in Richardson, Texas for 8 years, from where she has gained many collaborative experiences that eventually led her to then launching her own vision. Abida has been passionate about promoting mental health, particularly for minority communities and founded the Muslim Association Psychological Services (MAPS) network over 4 years ago, an organization that focuses on psycho-educational work in the Muslim community. She also takes a collaborative and hands-on approach in training her supervisees as well.

EMAIL: SUHAILAH@FACETOGETHER.ORGSuhailah Waheed is a community-centered fundraiser and organizer based out of Austin, Texas. She is originally from the multifaceted cultural hotspot of the American south, Durham, NC. Suhailah, who is also a published poet, focuses her work on highlighting issues that suppress the quality of life for women, children, minority and Muslim communities. Her fundraising adventure blossomed in her youth when she began fundraising for her school and local Masjid. From there, she was drawn to illuminating experiences and possibilities through storytelling and fundraising. This discovery is what led to her mission of backing her community in the most efficient way she could, through access to sustainable funding. She is the founder of the development agency, Giving Geeks, where she and her team create and steward sustainable funding strategies and solutions.

With an extensive background in various advocacy roles, Nosayba brings a wealth of experience and expertise to her position as a non-profit board member. Her commitment to making a positive impact in the lives of marginalized individuals and communities is evident through her diverse range of roles and accomplishments.
As a community mobilizer, Nosayba has consistently demonstrated her ability to rally individuals and organizations around important causes. Her innate ability to inspire and motivate others has resulted in successful community-led initiatives and collaborative efforts that have brought about meaningful change.
As a human rights advocate and social justice activist, Nosayba has tirelessly fought for the rights and dignity of all individuals. She has been a strong voice in addressing systemic injustices, advocating for equitable policies, and raising awareness about issues affecting marginalized communities.
In her role as a youth mentor, Nosayba has played a pivotal role in guiding and inspiring young individuals. Her mentorship has helped shape the lives of countless youths, empowering them to become leaders in their communities and fostering a sense of responsibility and civic engagement.
Nosayba's involvement in the electoral process is evident through her roles as an elections judge, inspector, and deputy voter registrar in two counties. Her dedication to fair and transparent elections is further exemplified by her service on the Vote Center Advisory Committee in the Dallas Election Department. She has actively promoted voter education, accessibility, and participation.
Additionally, Nosayba has been a passionate advocate for domestic violence survivors, tirelessly working towards ending the cycle of abuse and providing support to those affected. Her efforts have led to increased awareness, improved resources, and strengthened partnerships within the community.
As a Muslim inmates advocate, Nosayba has been a beacon of hope for incarcerated individuals. Her commitment to ensuring religious freedom and supporting the spiritual well-being of inmates has had a profound impact on the lives of many.
Nosayba had the opportunity to participate in the Religious Practices Committee for RISD (Richardson Independent School District), where she has helped foster an inclusive environment that respects and accommodates diverse religious practices.
Academically, Nosayba graduated with a Bachelor's degree in Business Administration with a concentration in Human Resources. Her educational background has provided her with a solid organizational management and strategic planning foundation, complementing her advocacy work.
Currently pursuing a Master's degree in Chaplaincy, Nosayba is further expanding her knowledge and skills in supporting individuals from diverse backgrounds in times of crisis, trauma, and spiritual growth.
Professionally, Nosayba works in a law office, where she provides vital support to asylum seekers, refugees, and the undocumented population. Her dedication to upholding human rights and providing legal assistance to vulnerable individuals demonstrates her unwavering commitment to social justice.
As a non-profit board member, Nosayba brings a wealth of experience, passion, and dedication to the table. Her multifaceted background and extensive involvement in various community initiatives make her an invaluable asset to the organization, ensuring its mission is upheld and its impact maximized.
