Summary: Saadeldin Bahr, also known as “Dr. Saad” in his community, was the spiritual director at Masjid Al-Hidayah, also known as the Islamic Cultural Centre. While counseling a woman who was struggling with mental health issues, he sexually assaulted her under the guise of "removing an evil curse” from her. He was sentenced to prison for 3.5 years, is forbidden from owning a firearm for 10 years, and is being placed on the Canadian Sex Offender Registry (which is not viewable to the public) for 20 years. After his imprisonment, audits showed that there were numerous instances of financial abuse of up to $127,000 concerning the donations received by Bahr’s former places of employment. Bahr appears to be scheduled for release in late 2020/early 2021.
