Summary: Mohamed Omar Ali resided in Houston, TX and attended Masjid Marwaas. He was informally teaching many students Qur’an, volunteering his services at people’s homes. An investigation which began in September 2019 uncovered at least four victims of sexual abuse dating back to 2013. Houston Muslim leadership clarified that Ali was not known in the community as a religious leader and likely offered his teaching services of his own accord. Ali is being held in Fort Bend County Jail and the investigation appears to be ongoing.
